The green and blue-green are fresh leaves and salt on silk, as is the blue right next door. The second blue cotton swatch was a hot bath where leaves cooked at 160\u00c2\u00b0F for 3 hours before I added alkaline chemicals (soda ash), agitated and added a reducing agent, Spectralite.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1914\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1914\" style=\"width: 900px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ivivaolenick.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/blue-to-green-indigo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1914\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ivivaolenick.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/blue-to-green-indigo-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"675\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.ivivaolenick.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/blue-to-green-indigo-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.ivivaolenick.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/blue-to-green-indigo-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.ivivaolenick.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/blue-to-green-indigo-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1914\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Indigo is surprisingly versatile in the colors it yields yet also unpredictable. Dyeing and working with nature and plants requires letting go of firm expectations regarding specific color and saturation.
