When we met in 2008, we quickly discovered common ground as native New Yorkers and artists, and decided to combine our seemingly separate art forms.<\/p>\n<p>I translate Hens&#8217; tags and drawings into embroidery. I begin by transferring his images, created digitally and with markers on paper, onto fabric. I then &#8220;paint&#8221; over his marks with stitches: French knots, basket weave, backstitch.
